DAN LIN SETS NEW TWO-YEAR DEAL AT WARNER BROS.
By DAVE MCNARY Posted: Thu., Jan. 10, 2013, 4:00am PTDan Lin and his Lin Pictures have reupped at Warner Bros. with a two-year first-look feature deal, continuing a relationship dating to 2008.
Deal comes with the studio opening “Gangster Squad,” produced by Lin, Kevin McCormick and Michael Tadross, on Friday.
During his tenure, Lin has produced both of the “Sherlock Holmes” films starring Robert Downey Jr. and “The Invention of Lying” and exec produced “Terminator Salvation.”
Warner Bros. Pictures Group prexy Jeff Robinov said, “Dan’s track record is undeniably successful and I’m pleased that he will remain an invaluable member of the Warner Bros. family.”
He’s also producing the animated “The Lego Movie,” set for a Feb. 7, 2014, opening as the first title out of Warner’s newly minted creative consortium. Other projects in development include “Spyhunter,” directed by Ruben Fleischer; “Deathnote,” directed by Shane Black; “It,” directed by Cary Fukunaga; “Moses”; and “The Brotherhood: The True Story of Two Cops Who Murdered for the Mafia.”
Prior to forming Lin Pictures, Lin served as a senior VP of production for Warners for eight years, most notably overseeing Martin Scorsese’s “The Departed.”
Lin Pictures execs include senior VP Jon Silk, director of development Seanne Winslow and creative exec Mark Bauch.
Lin Pictures has a separate deal with Warner Bros. Television via a TV division run by Jennifer Gwartz. Company just wrapped on drama pilot “The Secret Lives of Wives” for Lifetime and Warner Horizon.
